Description: 'Boston Ivy 'is not a plant which looks at its best when first purchased as a container grown vine. What you are buying is a root system which will reward you well. Also known as Japanese creeper, Grape ivy, Japanese ivy, or Boston ivy as its use for this in Boston, Massachusetts, United States has resulted in its popular alternative name. This usage is actually economically important because, by shading walls during the summer, it can significantly reduce cooling costs. A vigorous, self-supporting climber with glorious red autumn colour. Suitable for any wall, fence or shed. The plant does not penetrate the building surface but merely attaches with adhesive pads. The vine has dark green foliage and green flowers and black fruits which the birds enjoy. The foliage changes colour in autumn to a fiery red/purple . Will grow in full sun or partial shade and is fully hardy. Will also grow PARTICULARY WELL on a north or east facing wall making it the perfect choice for shady cold areas. The common name for this glorious climber is MILE A MINUTE RED LEAF and it will never disappoint.
