Description: A superb collection of three garden mint plants. The collection consists of 3 Garden Mints:- Apple Mint mentha suaveolens or sometimes called Potato Mint or best known as Traditional Garden Mint. When you taste new potatoes with fresh mint from your garden you know that spring has sprung and the winter will soon be just a memory! The aromatic leaves of this wonderful variety of mint make it simply the very best mint for using with the traditional New Potato Season, making your new potatoes taste EXTRAORDINARY! As the mint gives your new potatoes even more flavour you will find that you do not need to use as much salt nor too much butter. This mint can also be used with other vegetables and favourites after new potatoes, are carrots and peas. Potato Mint has the added advantage that it can be used fresh with the leaves being good to harvest and use for at least six months of the year! You can of course dry your own Potato Mint leaves during winter when fresh leaves are not so available - simply tie the leaves in small bunches and hang in a cool place to dry, then store in an airtight container. This Garden Mint is extremely easy to grow and it pretty much takes care of itself, and as it shoots well you will have plenty of leaves available. Traditional garden mint is the best mint for new potatoes - the taste is fresh but uniquely delicate. When making minted new potatoes simply scrub the potatoes and bring a pan of lightly salted water to the boil. Then add the potatoes to the pan with mint leaves and boil for 12-15 minutes until the potatoes are just tender. Drain well and tip into a bowl, removing the mint leaves before serving. Toss with a drizzle of olive oil, (or a small amount of butter if you prefer) salt and pepper, freshly chopped mint leaves and serve warm. Alternatively you may simply wish to add a few mint leaves to your potatoes whilst steaming and dress to your individual taste. Whichever method you prefer the taste will be extraordinary.
