Clematis montana 'Warwickshire Rose' - an ELEGANT MILE-A-MINUTE CLIMBER! This Hardy Perennial Climber has been container grown so can be planted at any time of the year. AVAILABLE FROM APRIL 2012 ONWARDS
Clematis montana 'Warwickshire Rose' has rugged coppery very dark burgundy leaves and irresistible anemone deep rose blooms with pale cream centres. Sweetly scented and flowering from May thoughout June the deep rose flowers are displayed at their best against this lush plummy foliage. The masses of flowers are followed by beautiful creamy coloured, fluffy seed heads. Fully hardy growing to some 15-25 ft (4.5 -7.5 m) it is best used for covering walls, fences , trellis, screens and sheds, or grown through trees for added colour in late spring and early summer. Pruning is best done after the plant has finished flowering, although little is generally needed and is done to simply tidy the plant. Montana 'Warwickshire Rose is said to be a seedling from Clematis montana 'Rubens' and is named by the finder, John Williams - he called the plant 'Rose' after his mother, and 'Warwickshire' after his home county! The dark plummy foliage make this clematis attractive, even when not smothered in the thousands of flowers it produces and can be grown in full sun or partial shade. This 'Mile-a Minute' vine is a dense growing climber which will always reward you, year after year!
