Description: Clematis 'Dorothy Walton'' is a superb cultivatar with a moderate growth rate. The plants true name is 'Bagatelle' and was originally named after a castle outside Paris. However a lady named Dorothy Walton found a plant in her garden and thought the plant had never been discovered and so the name stuck. In July-September the clematis flowers. Clematis 'Dorothy Walton' has the most beautiful large mauve coloured flowers with a slightly darker bar. The flowers grow in a stunning star shape. Clematis 'Dorothy Walton' also has long tapering tepals with white filaments and purple violet anthers. The flowers then turn into reddish brown stamens in late summer. Excellent for trellises, poles and other garden supports. This climbing plant can also be grown over natural supports such as coniferous or deciduous bushes and dwarf shrubs. Clematis 'Dorothy Walton' is a great choice for containers too! This exquisite clematis deserves to be part of everyones garden!
