Key Information:  Product Code: CMD

Name: Camellia 'Margaret Davis' - A compact evergreen shrub with charming ruffled double flowers edged in raspberry.

Description: This fully hardy japonica Camellia originates from Australia and is named after the founding president of the Gardening Clubs there. This compact form of Camellia has broad glossy luxuriant dark evergreen shiny leaves and flowers from late winter through to late spring, giving you colour in the winter garden when there is little else flowering. Camellia 'Margaret Davis' is perfect for the small garden and has the most exquisite bi-coloured ruffled creamy-white flowers which are edged lushiously in raspberry! These ruffled peony flowers are large and double and really do brighten up the winter garden. This is a slow growing variety of Camellia with an upright habit and can also be trained to grow in to a small tree. Prefers to be planted in partial shade but not east facing as it does not like cold, dry eastery winds. Camellias prefer a slightly acid, humus rich soil with good drainage, and do their very best when planted in partial shade. Fertilise in spring with a good quality azalea food, and mulch with composted leaves or compost and it really is that simple to have the perfect Camellia which will reward you year after year- there is no mystery to growing them! If you mulch your Camellia it will probably live longer than you - they have been known to have a life-span of up to 150 years! In ancient Japan and China the name Camellia symbolised the 'tree of spring' and this plant has long been regarded as a symbol of longevity, love, good fortune and happiness - the perfect choice to uplift you at any time of the gardening year!
