Tulip 'Red Riding Hood' - Dwarf growing * Commercial size bulb NOT small pre-packs - Provides More Even Growth *
'Red Riding Hood' is one of the best compact growing Greigii Tulips. Developed from the Tulipa greigii species, which is native to Turkestan. It is short as tulips go growing only 15cm (6 inches) tall, but the blooms are very large in proportion. The flowers open wide in full sun, creating cup-shaped blooms that can be more than 12cm (5 inches) in diameter when fully open. Because they are short 'Red Riding Hood' are ideal for rockeries and patio containers. It has the added attraction in that the leaves are patterned with purple stripes. They naturalise very well (i.e. if you leave them alone, they come back year after year, and even multiply). The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
Flower guide shown planted with 'Muscarii Blue ' which is a very nice planting combination.
